When I was young I didn’t like to read, I was more concerned about just experiencing the world in front of me and living day by day. In many ways I still live like that today but before I had Christ I was walking a path of ignorance. When I became a believer in Christ at the age of 21 years old it sparked a thirst for truth, which was sparked by reading the Word of God. However I also became very interested in the truth that studying history has to offer.
I thought I would share this out of interest. Basically there are 2 peoples in the world today that have about 4500 years of unbroken recorded history. That is the Israelites and the Han Chinese. As Christians we should already be very familiar why this is true for Israel but what about the Han Chinese? The Han Chinese have a very famous historian by the name of Sima Qian. Through this he documents the beginning of the Han Chinese from the time of the Yellow Emperor or Huang Di. However, where did Huang Di and his people originate from?
We know that all people groups today were a result of the sons and daughters of Noah’s sons Ham, Shem, and Japheth. For the past 100 years there has been much debate on the origin of the Han Chinese but within the past few years there has been some interesting discoveries and claims. A scientist by the name of Sun Wei Dong gave a lecture and published his findings in which he believes the Han Chinese came from a people group that were located in Ancient Egypt. His evidence?
1. In Sima Qian’s historical writings “the records of the grand historian” the description of the topography of the Xia empire — traditionally regarded as China’s founding dynasty, dating from 2070 to 1600 B.C he wrote “Northwards the stream is divided and becomes the nine rivers,” and also wrote “Reunited, it forms the opposing river and flows into the sea.” Sun Wei Dong pointed out that there is no bodies of water like that in China but it describes the Nile river perfect. Very interesting.

2. Sun Wei Dong was tasked as a researched to test ancient bronze artifacts discovered in China from the ancient Yin city of the Yin Shang dynasty. His findings was that the metal composition did not match that of being sourced in China but actually the same of that from Africa. Very interesting.

There are a couple reasons why this is interesting to me. First is because the Yin city of the Yin Shang dynasty is in modern day Anyang city which is one of the cities we serve in. The next is because I always wondered the connection between the Chinese covering their doorways with red paper couplets and the Israelites painted the doorways with blood so the angel of death would pass over them during the time of Moses when he asked the Egyptian Pharaoh to “Let my people go!”
So when confronting these issues, the events of the Bible, and these historical events some begin to realize that maybe we have more in common than we previously realized.
Since we talked a bit about Anyang some in this post perhaps out next post will be about our recent trip to Anyang. Please continue to pray for us and please feel free to share our mission with those you think would be interested in getting involved with us or helping support us in some way. We love you all in Christ!
