Chicken Coop Ministry

“By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” (John 13:35, KJV)

We pray you all are well these days as the Father has given us a tremendous warning and sign that we need to repent of idolatry in our lives, give him the glory he deserves, and live lives of gratitude that honor Him and are of bold service to be a witness to those who have not yet partaken in the wonderful salvation of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Now is such a wonderful time for us to examine ourselves, repent, reflect, and restore what it is to be a Christian. The Missionhog has been praying about what God “wants us to do” and we were warned by the Spirit that he wanted nothing from us but our repentance. We have been playing our part these days by spreading the word. We praise God about a new salvation from an old friend not long ago and his new journey in his walk with Christ. We also praise God that we have been able to continue with phone discipleship and also going back to the old ways of hand writing letters for encouragement and discipleship of some of the guys we were working with in some of the prisons in the state. Why is this important? Because some of these guys will get out within a matter of months and would we want them to go back to their old lives of crime and chaos for our communities or to be soldiers for Christ and using their backgrounds to speak to others in similar positions and paths as they were on?

Lately we have been led to partner with a brother who is an old friend who was led to Christ through another friend we led to Christ years ago. Now is a crucial time that we see what is happening to the world around us. Things are changing fast, things are not going to go back to normal and if we don’t take proper precautions there are going to be many that are already in disadvantaged positions that will suffer greatly in the near future. We believe that the Church should be at the forefront of blessing and opportunity in the community. Whether it be sharing truth that leads to salvation, education, jobs, health, opportunity etc. This is the type of community the Church should build so “The world knows us by our love for one another”

First we would like you to watch a video about “Victory Gardens”

Currently the project we are working on is to help create and teach those in need about raising chickens for eggs. Your Church can also start working on projects like these to teach more families (especially low income) how to be more food secure and also be able to be a blessing to help food banks or even help those in need with fresh eggs to be a good witness in times of need. We suggest a family of 3-4 start even with a small yard start with something simple like a small pvc chicken tractor. Here is a list of basics to get started:

Black Australorp Chickens (Laying at about 24 weeks old, we suggest 8 hens if you want about 6 eggs/day and buy local chicks if possible): https://hoovershatchery.com/BlackAustralorp.html

Zip Tie PVC Chicken Tractor (chicken fencing to cover and tarp can be purchased elsewhere): https://www.ziptiedomes.com/chicken-coop-kits/13-ft-chicken-coop-kit.htm

Chicken Feeder: https://www.amazon.com/RentACoop-Dual-Port-Feeder-Capacity-Poultry/dp/B07YM3ZB6C?ref_=ast_slp_dp

Chicken Waterer: https://www.amazon.com/Gallon-Chicken-Waterer-Horizontal-Nipple/dp/B0756P9KN5?ref_=ast_sto_dp

All that needs to be done is set up a 2×4 for a perch for them to sleep on and zip tie some milk crates for nesting boxes with some wheat straw or something for bedding. Keep the perch and nesting milk crates opposite each other. 3 nesting milk crates should be ok for 8 hens. Pull the pvc tractor to a new fresh plot of grass every couple days and be sure to collect the eggs on a regular basis.

If you are looking for a good free supply of chicken feed then you may want to consider looking into raising maggots. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7sf5WB_2CY

Please contact us anytime if you have any questions. These types of community development projects are going to play and important role in the coming days and will be great opportunities to share the gospel of Christ. If you would like to support the Missionhog to be able to order supplies to help build, travel, train, and most of all witness to many across the State with this chicken coop ministry outreach please consider helping us in these efforts.

As for the Missionhog, we have made our choice to follow God! In Jesus name, Amen.
